Location & Directions

At an elevation of 7,000 feet on the Sierra Nevada's Highway 4, Tamarack Pines Inn is between the spectacular Mokelumne and Stanislaus River canyons. Ebbetts Pass and the Pacific Crest Trail offer beautiful scenery. Mountain lakes and streams wait to be explored. Nearby Bear Valley provides summer festivals, sporting events and excellent cross-country skiing. Downhill skiing may be enjoyed on the slopes of Bear Valley Mountain Resort. Lake Alpine Recreation Area, only six miles east, caters for fishing, water sports, mountain bikes and hiking. Calaveras Big Trees State Park, which has some of the oldest and largest living trees known to man, is 20 miles west. Nearby are the gold rush towns of Murphys, Angels Camp and historic Columbia. visit Mercer Cavern or Moaning Cavern and tour local wineries offering some of the best wines in California.

Directions

From the Bay Area - Take 580 east, to 205 east, to 120 east, to 99 north, to 4 east through Angels Camp, then follow the signs to Bear Valley.
From Sacramento - Take 99 south, to 12 east, to 49 south, to 4 east through Angels Camp, then follow the signs to Bear Valley.
From the Central Valley - Take 99 north, to 4 east through Angels Camp, then follow the signs to Bear Valley.
The Inn is on the right side of the road immediately past Tamarack Lodge. If you reach Bear Valley Village (which is 2 miles up the road on the left) you have gone too far!
